All advantages and disadvantages of Led TL lighting at a glance
LED lighting has completely swept aside the conventional lighting market for a variety of reasons, in particular, lower energy consumption, longer life, and lower maintenance costs. By 2030, the US Department of Energy expects that Led lighting will save 190 terawatt-hours of electricity. This equals no less than 15 billion dollars a year! Now that the prices of LED lamps continue to fall, more and more companies are switching to LED.
Advantages of LED fluorescent lighting
It is already known to most that Led offers great benefits. These are the most important:
Led saving
Fluorescent lighting is a widely used form of lighting. Due to the relatively low energy consumption and high light output, LED fluorescent tubes are ideal for illuminating large spaces such as warehouses, sheds, and workplaces. LED fluorescent tubes use more than 50% less energy than conventional fluorescent tubes. The most commonly used fluorescent tube, 150 cm, has a power of 58 watts, while the LED fluorescent tube of 150 cm only needs a power of 23 watts to generate the same light. By switching to Led TL tubes you, therefore, realize a direct saving of at least 50%! This can be as high as 66% as explained in the following paragraph.
Conventional fluorescent tubes also need a ballast (visa) to work. After various tests, it was found that replacing fluorescent tubes with led fluorescent tubes, the VSA no longer consumes energy. Normally the share of the visa is 15% of the total energy consumption of the fluorescent tube, which in the example of the 150 cm fluorescent tube amounts to 9 watts. As a result, the expected saving itself is even higher: as much as 66%!
The lifespan is longer
The expected lifespan of LED fluorescent lamps is a lot longer than normal fluorescent tubes. On average, a conventional fluorescent tube lasts 10,000 hours. TL is already a sustainable light source, for example, an incandescent lamp lasts an average of only 1,000 hours.
LED fluorescent tubes last an average of 50,000 hours. LED tubes, therefore, last on average 5 times longer than normal fluorescent lighting.
Because LED TL bars last longer, you need to replace the tubeless often. This gives you several advantages: first, you have to replace less often, saving you money. This saving does not only concern the costs of new pipes but in many cases also the installation costs. With fluorescent tubes hanging in places that are difficult to reach - such as with high ceilings - replacing one or more tubes entails relevant costs, because often an aerial platform must be used.
Unbreakable LED tube
Normal fluorescent tubes are made of glass. You will, therefore, have to handle this with care. The Led TL lamps from Led Wereld are made of aluminum and plastic. The top is made of sturdy aluminum and the bottom of milky plastic. By using milky plastic, nice, even light comes from the tube, just like you are used to with fluorescent tubes. These LED fluorescent lamps can, therefore, take a beating and will break less quickly than the conventional fluorescent tubes.
LED fluorescent bars do not contain mercury
Fluorescent tubes contain the toxic substance mercury. Despite the innocent name, mercury makes fluorescent tubes a chemical waste. As a result, it is not healthy to breathe in the air from fluorescent tubes. No mercury is used with LED fluorescent lighting. For this reason, LED tubes do not need to be disposed of with the chemical waste, but can be deposited with the normal residual waste.
LED lighting does not flicker
If you look at normal fluorescent lighting, you will probably notice that the light is not entirely constant. This is different from LED lighting. LED bars provide a constant light so that you are not bothered by flickering.
High power factor
The power factor is a somewhat technical matter. However, since this is a very important aspect of lighting, especially with a larger number of lamps, it may be useful to read the following, even if you lack technical knowledge.
The power factor shows the relationship between the actual power and the apparent power. The apparent power is the number of watts on the label. Electronic devices with a low power factor actually consume more (the actual power) than it says on the label (the apparent power) This difference is also referred to as reactive current.
The energy supplier makes a payment based on the apparent power unless a special meter has been installed to measure the reactive current. For private individuals with a small number of lamps, the special meter makes no sense, because the costs of this are not earned back because the extra revenues for the energy supplier are less than the costs. However, if a large number of Led-TL tubes are used, such as in companies, it is financially beneficial to install the reactive current meter. Moreover, dangerous situations can occur with a large number of Led TL tubes in use with a low power factor such as group cabinets that become very hot.
So pay attention to the power factor in addition to the light output! This determines the quality of the LED-TL tubes. A low power factor means that the tubes are of inferior quality. The Led TL tubes from Led Wereld all have a power factor of 0.98, which means that there is little or no blind current.
